Dr. Davidson L. Hepburn was confirmed to the Post of President of the 35th General Conference of UNESCO during the opening of the 35th General Conference of UNESCO on 6 October 2009 in Paris.
In addressing the General Conference during his acceptance remarks, Dr. Hepburn made note of the fact that he was the first individual to hold the post from the Caribbean Region, and so comes a responsibility to advance the interests of The Bahamas, the Region and all small island developing states within the work of the Organization.
Dr. Hepburn takes over from his predecessor H.E. George N. Anastassopoulos, Ambassador of Greece, to this prestigious two year post.
