General Information
The High Commission of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas was first established in 1970. Seven persons have served as High Commissioners since then:
- Sir Alvin Braynen (10 July 1973 - 30 June 1977)
- Mr Anthony Roberts (2 October 1977 - 14 September 1984)
- Mr Richard Demeritte (17 September 1984 - 13 May 1988)
- Dr. Patricia Rodgers (16 May 1988 - 30 October 1992)
- Sir Arthur A. Foulkes (9 November 1992 - 14 June 1999)
- Mr Basil G. O'Brien CMG (31 August 1999 - 31 January 2008)
- Mr Paul H Farquharson QPM (2 February 2008 - 21 August 2012)
The current High Commissioner is H.E. Eldred E Bethel
The High Commission is located in Bahamas House, which also accommodates one other Government Department: The Bahamas Tourist Office.

The High Commission is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., during which time it remains open to the public. Visa hours are between 10:00a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
