Bahamas High Commissioner Tours Commonwealth Games Village in Glasgow

H.E. Eldred Bethel, High Commissioner, and Mrs. Dawne Bethel, toured the Commonwealth Games Village (CGV) on Thursday 6 March 2014.

Designed for athletes in consultation with athletes, the CGV promises to be a real home from home.

Set in Glasgow’s east end, the purpose-built, low carbon village is at the heart of one of Europe’s largest regeneration areas. It will be home to the expected 6,500 athletes and CGA team officials for the duration of the 2014 Commonwealth Games – including Team Bahamas!
The village will offer an exclusive retail area, recreational area, dining hall, medical facility and other amenities for the use of athletes and officials. The site has been developed by Glasgow City Council and City Legacy, a private-sector consortium which built the first 700 units for the Games.

High Commissioner Bethel was on a two-day visit to Glasgow to attend a Diplomatic Briefing on the 2014 Commonwealth Games and to visit the competition venues and athletes village situated across the City of Glasgow.
