The Hon. D. Shane Gibson, Minister of the Public Service attends the ‘Public Administration in Very Small States’ Conference hosted by the Commonwealth Secretariat in London from 23 to 24 April 2013

The Bahamas was represented at the ‘Public Administration in Very Small States’ Conference in London from 23 to 24 April 2013 by the Hon. D. Shane Gibson, Minister of the Public Service; and Elizabeth Keju, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of the Public Service.

The Conference which is led by the Governance and Institutional Development Division of the Commonwealth Secretariat will be focusing on the impact of public administration on development in very small island states.  The smallest 35% of Commonwealth Member Sates – nineteen very small States from across the Caribbean, Indian Ocean and Pacific which have a population below 500,000 have been invited to attend.  The aim of the Conference is to assist public administration in these countries to innovate and learn from each other on ‘what works’ for delivering economic growth and political stability.
